A call for contributions

Help preserve the teaching of Cherif Ibrahim Aidara At-Tijani

His lessons and his counsel travel from phone to phone, through groups, across platforms. Much of it can no longer be found. If you have a recording, even a short one, even an imperfect one, it belongs here.

Why now

  • What only circulates eventually disappears

WhatsApp files clear off phones, videos are taken down, accounts are lost. What is kept nowhere eventually exists nowhere.

  • Nothing is published without review

Every submission is checked before anything goes online. Nothing is published on this site today: we are gathering first, with permission and under the supervision of those responsible for it.

  • For those who come after

Some of our children read neither Wolof nor Arabic. Gathering, transcribing and translating leaves a door open for them.

How it works

  1. You send

An audio or video file from your phone, or simply a link to a post. Tell us what you know: roughly when, where, on what occasion.

  2. We verify

Every submission is listened to and checked. Where each recording came from is recorded and kept alongside it.

  3. We preserve

The recording is archived for the long term, together with the name of the person who passed it on. Nothing is published until it has been verified.

Send a recording

You can send a file, a link, or both. Not every field is required: tell us what you know, even if it is very little.

The recording

Audio, video, or a photo of a written document. You can add more than one.

What you know about it

The subject, what you remember, a phrase you heard. Any detail makes it findable later.

Who is speaking

If it is not the cheikh, please say so.

Even roughly: a year, a month, a Ramadan, a gamou.

The city, the zawiya, the house, the occasion.

The language of the recording.

This matters. Tell us who you had it from, or which group you received it in. This is kept alongside the recording.

About you

It will be kept with the recording, as the person who passed it on.

Phone or email, in case we have a question. Will not be published.

If you are unsure whether it is yours to share, tell us in the field above rather than ticking this box.
